Opineo is one of Poland's most trusted ecommerce review platforms and an important reference point for shoppers evaluating a store before their first purchase. For brands selling on Shopify in the Polish market, a presence on Opineo can materially support conversion. The problem was straightforward: there was no official Shopify app for Opineo, and the platform did not expose a public REST API.
The workarounds available on the market came with major limitations. Some required Shopify Plus, excluding most stores on Basic and standard plans. Others were expensive, poorly maintained, or depended on storing customer data in third-party systems, increasing GDPR exposure. Many also relied on platform mechanisms that Shopify has been gradually phasing out.
The objective was clear: enable automated collection of verified Opineo reviews after each purchase, on every Shopify plan, without storing customer data outside Shopify and Opineo's own systems.
02Approach
Most teams trying to solve this would begin by looking for an API. We started with a different question: what does Opineo actually need in order to send a review invitation? The answer turned out to be simpler than a full API integration. What mattered was a reliable, authenticated signal confirming that a purchase had taken place.
Instead of building an additional data pipeline or middleware layer, we designed a post-purchase mechanism. It runs within seconds of order completion, communicates directly with Opineo's invitation system, and does not require customer data to be stored outside Shopify and Opineo.
The key project constraint was availability across all Shopify plans. Any approach that depended on Shopify Plus or broader admin API access would immediately exclude most merchants. Our solution uses Shopify's post-purchase code execution surface, which keeps it available regardless of plan tier.

The integration runs automatically on every order, across all Shopify plans and without human intervention. Review invitations are sent after a defined delay from purchase and go only to customers whose order has been correctly verified.
Because the solution is stateless and does not rely on external data stores, it creates virtually no maintenance burden and adds no unnecessary compliance exposure. Since launch, it has been running reliably without incidents or the need for manual handling.
